Bus Only Passes

We will be using a charter bus (with DVD, power outlets, bathroom, etc.) and will leave Southridge HS on Wednesdays in February. It begins boarding at 1:15pm and we leave at 1:30pm.  We return usually by 10pm.This service DOES NOT include supervision, coaching, or food once at Mt. Hood Meadows. We recommend bus-only riders come with a friend as the majority of other riders will be in lessons.  You can still join the  Beaverton Snowboard Alliance (which includes coaching and food) but unfortunately, it is too late to sign up to compete. Team Dues

(Updated December 19th)

The leadership team has spent a lot of time analyzing the survey results, an estimated budget for the year, impact of fundraising, and volunteering to settle on this price: $475 per rider.  This includes the $150 that has already been paid.  This means that remaining balance is $325.  Here is a breakdown of everything:

$475 Total Dues

7 weeks of wednesday practices (no practice january 31st for finals)

Charter busses (with power outlets, dvd, bathrooms, etc.)

Free Team hoodies for riders who volunteered ($30 value)

All team dues must be paid by January 5th

Week 2 Update (Jan 16th)

  • Week 2 Coaching Groups: for practice this week, we are having students choose what they want to work on.  Please have students fill out this quick survey ASAP to make sure we put them in the correct groups for tomorrow.
  • First Comp is Sunday: Our first competition (BoarderCross & Slalom) of the year is this Sunday.  We want all riders to show up for registration by 8:15am.  We know that this is very early, but there will be a bunch of people heading up there and it may take a while.  Also, traffic going to Meadows on the weekend is a nightmare, so I would error on the side of leaving too early. Once the lifts open (9am) riders will head to the course. From there, they will get in a practice run, and the competition usually starts around 10ish. As parents there are opportunities to volunteer (you need to contact Daniele Grigsby) and you can even hike up part of the mountain as a spectator to just watch.  Gabby and Daniel will be the coaches on course on Sunday and I will volunteer to get everyone checked in. Many parents are driving up and will likely have rides available. If you are coming up and can offer a ride by signing up here.  Also, we are going to be doing the potluck with the rest of Gorge League again this year.  If you can sign up for food for this Saturday, it would be a great help.
  • Weekend Practices: This is a change from previous years, so I wanted to make sure we were all on the same page.  Weekend practices are optional and not included as part of our fees.  Riders can individually sign up with a coach each Wednesday night based on the coach's availability and what level they will be riding with. These will cost $25 per rider, and are capped at 8 riders per coach.  Usually coaches meet at 10am at the flagpole, but it is their responsibility to verify the time/spot.  Here is coaching availability for this upcoming weekend:
    • Daniel: Saturday
    • Gabby: Saturday
    • Tymon: Sunday (for non-competing riders)

General 2017-2018 Info

Coaching

If you are a competing, the assumption is that you will be receiving coaching, which includes supervision.  If you are not competing there is also coaching available on Wednesdays and on Saturdays.  Note: Wednesdays will be much more personalized as the mountain is not nearly as crowded.

Final prices for the Snowboard Team/Club depend on how many total riders sign up.  We estimate that the total cost should not exceed $500 (including the $150 deposit).

Team Dues

Team Hoodies

We will be voting on the 2018 Hoodies during our pre-season party.

Our History

The Beaverton Snowboarding Alliance was founded to unite snowboarders of Beaverton, Aloha, and Southridge high schools.  During January and February we meet up, ride on Thursday evenings, and compete (but for separate schools) on Saturdays.  Our alliance allows us to build inter-school connections, share in transportation and coaching resources, and push one another to become better riders. If you are a high school student in the Beaverton area you are welcome to join.  It doesn't matter if this is your first time (actually, it is a great/cheap way to learn), or if you are ready to compete; all are welcome.
